The W205 C-Class is where Mercedes went all-in on DoIP — which is why a $29.99 adapter replaces a $500+ Star C4 for most jobs on this car.
Every W205 C300 (2015–2021) routes full diagnostics through its Ethernet gateway. That means the ENET/DoIP adapter connects natively — no multiplexer emulation, no 38-pin adapters. The Star C4/C5 hardware exists to cover older CAN-only Mercedes; on a W205 it is an expensive passthrough.
| Job | Tool | Works over ENET? |
|---|---|---|
| Read/clear fault codes, all ECUs | XENTRY passthru | ✓ native |
| Live data & actuations | XENTRY passthru | ✓ |
| Variant coding (features) | DTS Monaco | ✓ |
| Service resets & adaptations | XENTRY passthru | ✓ |
| ECU flashing | Monaco / XENTRY flash | ✓ wired + maintainer |
| Online SCN coding | XENTRY + subscription | Credentials-dependent |
The full passthru configuration — interface selection, IP behaviour and the fixes for every common error — is documented step by step in the XENTRY ENET configuration guide. For engineering-level variant coding, continue to the DTS Monaco setup.
