DTS Monaco over ENET: Engineering-Grade Access

DTS Monaco is the Mercedes engineering tool that replaced Vediamo. It speaks DoIP natively — which means your ENET cable is the hardware path.

01 / CONTEXT

Where DTS Monaco Sits in the MB Toolchain

XENTRY is the dealer diagnostic front-end; DTS Monaco is the engineering environment underneath it — ECU-level diagnostics, variant coding and flash sessions using CBF/SMR project data. On 2016+ Mercedes vehicles (W205/W213/W222 and newer) all of this runs over DoIP, and a correctly wired ENET/DoIP adapter connects DTS Monaco to the car exactly as it does for XENTRY passthru.

02 / SETUP

Connection Setup in 5 Steps

StepActionNotes
1Connect ENET adapter, ignition onLaptop gets 169.254.x.x link-local IP — same as BMW workflow
2Open DTS Monaco project for your vehicleProject data (CBF/SMR files) must match the model series
3Select the DoIP/Ethernet interfaceChoose the ENET network interface, not a VCI driver
4Run gateway detectionThe DoIP gateway responds with the vehicle's logical address
5Connect to target ECUOpen diagnostic session — variant coding and flash options appear per ECU
No response at step 4? Check the Windows firewall first, then the IP state. The troubleshooting guide covers every DoIP discovery failure in order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does DTS Monaco work with the ENET WiFi adapter?
Technically yes (it is a network interface), but for engineering sessions — especially anything flash-adjacent — use the wired connection. WiFi is fine for read-only exploration.
Is DTS Monaco the same as XENTRY?
No. XENTRY is the guided dealer diagnostic application; DTS Monaco is the engineering toolkit underneath with direct ECU access. Many users run XENTRY for diagnosis and Monaco for variant coding.
Which cars need Monaco instead of XENTRY?
Any job XENTRY doesn't expose: variant coding, parameter changes, engineering-level routines. For standard diagnostics and SCN-coded online functions, XENTRY passthru over ENET is the right tool.
