Both platforms officially recommend WiFi ENET for OTS maps. Here's how to do it without becoming a cautionary forum thread.
bootmod3 and MHD flash through the OBD2 DoIP path, and both recommend WiFi ENET adapters: the phone stays in your hand showing progress, no cable runs through the door seal, and the link is fast enough for multi-hundred-MB DME writes in minutes.
WiFi for tuning is mainstream and safe when you follow the two rules that every bricked-DME story ignored: voltage and proximity.
